Tarte for Trueblood "look a day" August 7th!

SO I decided that these "look a day" posts would only last for a week and here is the last look! I decided that yall needed to see something with the green in it. This was a dilemma for me because my mom once told me that she hates green shadow because it looks so "stereotypical mexican." I actually agree with this statement as it makes me look very unlike myself.
Anyways I decided to use the green along the lashline instead of as a crease or lid shade. For this look I used Fairy as the lid shade, Werewolf as the crease shade, and Moss on the lashline.

Fairy as a lid shade: I prepped my lids with UD primer potion and then applied NYX milk to my lid and blended with my finger. Fairy is a very sheer color which makes it great for a highlight but not so great as a lid shade. I'm stubborn and I really wanted Fairy to show up and some of the pink to come out so the NXY milk helped alot with this! this is a great lid color and goes awesomely with the brown!

Werewolf: see previous posts.

Moss: I lined my eyes with Maybelline Line Sytlist in Onxy and with a liner brush smudged Moss ontop completely covering the black. I love this liner because it really locks the shadow into place and it does not come off. This looks gorgeous with the black base of the liner!!!! I smudged it a little above the liner as well for a softer look. I'm very very please with the way this came out!

Conclusion to the trueblood looks!: (I bolded my favorite shadows in the palette)
I used the colors: The light, Fairy, Dusk, Werewolf, Waitress, Charmer, Glamour me, Stake, Bayou, Telepath, The True death, Moss, Legend, and V in these looks. I did not use Dawn, Nocturnal, or Immortal. The last two I didn't use because they are so bold and I really didn't have any place to be that called for anything quite that bold.

Tarte for Trueblood "look a day" August 6th

Hey yall!
so today is a day at the pool so my look is really minimal but I thought I would upload anyways! UD primer potion makes pretty much everything waterproof including these shadows! Todays look is Bayou on the lid, Werewolf along the outer half of the lash line, and Fairy in the crease. I've already done a look with all 3 of these so look back for the specifics on each color.
heres the look, I used Bayou as a light wash of color. the camera doesn't do it justice.

i tightlined (not on my waterline but on my actual lashline. I cringe thinking of people putting liner on their waterline) with Physicians formula cream liner from the brown eyes trio!

Tarte for Trueblood "look a day" august 5th!

Happy friday everyone!!!!!
This is a really awesome day because A) i'm out of school until wednesday B) going to make cupcakes and watch sharkweek at my makeup guru Nat's house today with some old KRTU interns. C) I got to wake up late. This is also a bittersweet day because my honey moves to North Carolina to go to Law School at Wake Forest in exactly a week, but its exciting because he'll get to have a change of scenery and actual seasons! I'm kind of jealous, well okay...really jealous.
anyways makeuP! okay so today's look is a modified version of the look Vamp Glam from the look book provided with the kit. I wore "The True Death on the lids and blended upward, Lined my eyes with a black pencil liner (maybelline line stylist in Onyx), and then smudged the color Glamour Me into the liner and then upward and out. I used Fairy as my highlight. I didn't think I would like this look but I LOVE it! here's the deets:

The True Death: shimmery silver. This is the most shimmery and amazing silver i've ever owned! it's wonderfully smooth, richly pigmented, and doesn't show up blue in pictures! If you're wearing blue (as I am today) it shows up more blue than silver but thats just the nature of silver in my opinion. This is SO shimmery, but not in a tacky way at all! Its glamorous and looke like you have diamond dust on your eyelids. Its a really neat color and i didn't experience fallout with this. Remember that for all of these shadows you pat them into the lid. just fyi.
Glamour me: this color is quite awesome and looks really good combined with the silver. Its smooth and very pigmented. I'm not sure how this wears on its own but with this look its awesome. I'll need to try a look with this as a crease shade soon!

Tarte for Trueblood Look a day August 4th!

Only three more looks for my look a day posts after this one! I'd better get busy and figure out what to do for the rest of the days!
todays look is a matte smokey eye in celebration of A) eating dinner with my honey tonight, and B) the last day of summer school. In these 3 weeks and 3 days (not counting today because it was a wrap up) I've written an entire unit, did a 10 page bizarre annotated bibliography,and a curriculum report comparing the US, Texas, California, and yes Canada. I'm so relieved to be out! :D yall probably want to hear about these shadows however so i shall proceed:
the shadows used: Stake as a lid color, Legend in the crease, and Fairy as a highlight

heres the lowdown:
Stake: refer to august 3rd
Fairy: refer to August 2nd
Legend: okay, so this is a matte black that is build-able. i own NYX black which is the blackest black of all blacks but this is really good for looks that you don't want quite as intense. I don't always want the blackest black as a crease shade even though I look fine with that intensity. That being said I love this because theres pretty much no fallout and it blends really easily.
This look reminds me of Lorena a little bit because it has a vintage 20s feel with the grey shadows, if i wanted to go full on Clara bow I would have to sweep some of the shadow under my eyes...hich is not what I do because my eyes are not an even size and this really emphsizes that. So this is as close to a Lorena eye as you're going to get from me. Anyways enjoy the look!

This is such a lovely look that I will probably wear very often! I love Stake so much and I also love that I now own a non-chalky black that is build-able! how you enjoyed this look! watch out because tomorrow I'm going to use The True Death!

Tarte for Trueblood "look a day" august 3rd

hey peeps!
So now that my Unit i'm writing feels more complete and awesome i'm not so stressed out! :D which is always a good thing! anyways today's look of the day is something darker and more colorful! This look is a smokey purple and grey composed of: Stake (lid color) , V (crease color), and Fairy (highlight).
here's the deets:

Stake: this is most favorite color from the whole palette! Do you know how hard it is to find a true grey??? its really really hard! most greys pull too blue or too brown, this one is just right! Its literally perfect. and this looks SOOOO stunning because its matte and works really well as a crease shade. I'm actually surprised at how build-able this color is. Depending on the brush this can be a soft wash of grey or a nice medium grey which is really hard to achieve with one shadow. With my Ulta crease brush (the best crease brush! the color packs on really rich and theres alot less fallout) this is dark, with my fluffy powder brush this is a nice soft wash. anyways this color is absolutely great.

V: this is a shimmer shade, it says its a shimmering crimson but its really more of a red based purple. Oh well, the color is fabulous however! Its so unique, i own alot of purples but this one is not close to one that I own! neither is Glamour me for that matter, actually.I neglected to put on my NYX milk (i usually apply this for any colored shadow) and it still was not muddy which is awesome! The green gets muddy without a white base but this particular color is fine without it. The consistency of this is awesome just like the rest of the shimmer shades (excluding dawn...that one is chalky)! this is a great color that would go well with many other colors in the palette!

I seriously love this look! the last picture was just taken, 8 hours after application. still going strong! :D

Tarte for Trueblood "Look a day" august 2nd

So i feel kind of bad for posting mainly neutral eye looks on here! There are so many gorgeous dark colors in this palette but I just don't feel justified in doing heavy makeup when i've literally been sitting in the library doing work since 9am. that being said heres todays look! this is a really great gold and bronze look that is great for both summer and autumn! I'm using the shades Fairy, Bayou, and Charmer.
So cool thing I found out yesterday, these are bigger than both urban decay single eyeshadows and MAC eyeshadows. this is so awesome because I use UD shadows alot and i've never used one up. I've never used up an entire shadow period. I'm getting pretty close with Ulta twilight but thats another story. back to the breakdown:

Fairy is in my highlight color and it is a really great baby pink shimmer color. I prefer this in my crease as opposed to The Light because the color is nice and bright for the inner eye! I always used an Ulta shadow for my highlight shade and it was lovely but it was too bold and also turned the tear duct area really gross and flaky. This color is seriously the favorite shadow i've even used to brighten my inner eye. I seriously looks so good all day!

Bayou is a beautiful gold color, I've actually accumulated many golds and this one is perfect because it has less fallout than the rest of them! :D This almost reminds me of NYX mink but more yellow gold. This is also a shimmer color! the shimmers look so nice and fresh, i like them just as much as the mattes (im more partial to shimmery shadows). These shimmer shades are a little bit softer than the mattes but they dont take alot of layering to get good coverage! I swiped the Bayou on my finger to put it on this morning and I just needed one swipe per eye.

Charmer is a lovely shade the confuses the hell out of me. Its slightly orange, slightly, pink, and kind of red....i have no idea what to think of it but i love it. I would have preferred the green with Bayou but I decided to go with it anyways and just try it! The result was pretty good!Since this pulls reddish pink I would really like to experiment with Telepath on the lid and Charmer in the crease and also with Charmer on the Lid and V in the crease. I think those looks would be fabulous.

Tarte for Trueblood look of the day August 1st! Sookie inspired!

so its 102 degrees in my neck of the woods, I feel bad for the people who have to walk a longer ways to get to wherever they need to go than i do! I just don't feel justified driving such a short distance to the campus parking lot! that being said its really hot and im so glad these shadows have excellent wear! I'm going to go through each color individually whenever I do a look of the day review just because no two shadows act or wear the same even if they're in the same palette. okay so today's look of the day was a modified version of the Not Your Average Waitress look from the suggested looks. Its a nice smokey brown eye! In the booklet you put Dusk on the lids, apply Waitress to the crease and blend upward, and then you blend Werewolf into the outer crease and lashline. You then line your eyes with the black liner. I modified this a bit by adding Dusk to my lids, adding just a hint of Waitress to my inner crease, and adding Werewolf to my outer crease and blending it up into the crease. I of course blended everything together with my blender brush. I decided that I wanted to try out my free EmphasEYES plum liner (not the aqua-gel just a regular liner) that I got free with the purchase so I lined my eyes with that instead of the black. here's the look!:

I decided to go light on the mascara today since you can actually see my lashes with the purple and they didn't need to be long. I really love this look!!!!! This looks great with the plum liner but I also really want to try this with black liner and a berry lip when fall/winter rolls around!
heres the breakdown of the shades:
Dusk: (i accidentally spelled it Duck on my other post....sorry) This is a beautiful matte warm taupe! this would be a medium brown on pale people but on me its just slightly darker than my lids. This actually almost pulls pink when combined with the plum liner. This is really easy to apply and i don't get any fallout. Its super duper silky to the touch. These shadows don't crease at all just FYI.
Werewolf: This is probably going to be one of my favorite shades. I really love chocolate browns and this one is matte,super pigmented and doesn't pull too warm or too cool toned! yay! this is also really silky to the touch and easy to apply! you barely have to dip your crease brush in to get some good color!
Waitress: I keep coming back to this color even though there's so much fallout....but it is a really nice color! this has a much different feel to it than the matte shadows do, its still silky but its not as creamy (you really just have to rust me...i can't describe it!). The glitters are slightly rough when applying but i have tough lids. I find that if i apply this with my finger there's alot less fallout.

I really like this look even though im used to wearing shimmery shadows and darker shadows, but I can for sure get used to wearing some mattes every once in a while when they feel so nice to apply!

Tarte for Trueblood Limited Edition Eyeshadow palette!

hey yall!
so for those of you who know me know that i am completely obsessed with trueblood and that my favorite color is black. This color palette usually doesn't come through in my everyday wear...but it is truely my favorite color! Okay, so i admit, i'm more of a fan of the book series than the show because it really highlights Sookie's life not only as a woman who gets sucked into the supernatural but also the slow life of a woman who lives by herself in the south. I love southern accents, sweet tea, and I live by myself....coincidence? I think not, me and sook were meant to be besties. anyways yall probably want to hear about tarte so i guess i'll have to appease you.
This is hands down the most awesome makeup thing i've ever owned! I was completely floored when i found out there was a trueblood palette and completely overjoyed when i heard Tarte made it! I freakin love tarte, i check the QVC guide for when tarte's going to be on....just a little fyi about my creeper nature...They have such great products! first off their products are made without: parabens, mineral oil, pthlates, sodium lauryl sulfate, and synthetic fragrance. AND they're cruelty free!!!!! whats not to love! okay, thats good enough but they also use amazonian clay in many of their products that soaks up oil and is rich in vitamins and minerals.
This was $52 US dollars and is valued at over $300. So worth it. Here's the lowdown. lets start with the packaging.

Packaging:

Some people would call this "tacky" but I call it awesome. The box looks like a corset with red peepong out and laces going across! EEP! it's so cool! It feels like something that would be sitting in fangtasia! The box is HUGE, it's really sturdy, and the magnetic lid holds awesomely and the little drawer is very sturdy. The box does not look cheap at all and it has real elastic string and metal rivets. hell yes. The shadows are not loose inside the packaging at all and theres even a huge mirror and printed inside. so cool!

Shadows:

OHHHHH MYYYYYY GOOOOOSSSSSHHHHHHH! the shadows....the shadows are so amazing! the are each 2 grams! 2 grams!!! thats bigger than a MAC single shadow pan!!! and you get 17 shadows!!!! MAC shadows are 14 bucks each and Tarte single shadows ( i dont think they sell them single anymore) were 17 bucks a pop. This is a really great value for how much you get. The shadows come with a film over them that says all of the names and each shadow has the tarte embossing on them <3 They're actually grouped in diamonds to help take the guesswork out of which shadows go best with one another! This comes with 2 highlight shades (or you can use them as super neutrals) : The Light (creamy beige), and Fairy (baby pink) these two are both shimmery (not glittery). the rest of the shadows are: Duck (Matte taupe), Dawn (shimmer light gold), Werewolf (Matte chocolate brown!), Waitress (glittery pink champagne!), Nocturnal (black base with blue shimmers (not glitter)!), Charmer (shimmer somewhere between pink and bronze), Glamour me (shimmer, deep plaum purple), Stake (treue Matte grey), Bayou (shimmery gold), Telepath (glitter, dusty rose), The True Death (shimmer Silver), Immortal (black with shimmer), Moss (shimmer, emerald green), Legend (Matte black), and lastly "V" (shimmer, red based purple). I simply cannot tell you how much i love that these have trueblood inspired names! The actually head of makeup from trueblood worked with tarte to develop these colors, that is so impressive and special! These are also really really wearable! They did such a good job of putting both neautrals and darks in this palette :D. I also really love that they could go for any season really but they pull more towards fall. Telepath in the spring time would be gorgeous however! I absolutely love the texture of the mattes, theyre really buttery and nice to put on! A word of caution containing Waitress and Telepath...these are very glittery and the glitter will go everywhere, just an fyi, make sure you're prepared for fallout. The lady who works for tarte said its best to pat these onto the eyelids but they look great patting or swiping. These are really pigmented and you just need a little bit of color to go a long way (especially with the dark colors). I never wear shadows without a primer but ive heard that these dont look as stunning without primer, so just keep that in mind. For the colorful shadows I would probably put down a white base so that the colors come out more true because these can get muddy if you have a medium-dark skintone. I would suggest my handy NYX milk! Look at NYX post for the deets on how to use it. anyways heres some pictures of my look from yesterday (sorry if its dark!) and today!

Using Telepath on the lid, werewolf in the crease, and a smidge of glamous me on the very outside corners. Used Fairy as a highlight.

Waitress on the lid, Stake in the crease, and The Light as my highlight

aren't they lovely! werewolf and stake look scary but you can totally make them wearable!

Its a booklet! It has 4 different looks on the inside and all the color names/product information on the back!

I plan to do a new look every day with this palette and i'll do a new post to give you a better idea of what looks you can do and what these look like on the lids. I probably will not go with the looks in the booklet but i will be more than happy to do the looks if requested.

Now theres an awesome perk to this palette and its the drawer!
The cleverest of things "open after dark"

inside is:

there is a full sized EmphasEYES aqua-gel eyeliner, a Mini "lights cameras, lashes", and a mini "lifted" natural eye primer inside.
I love the liner, it is made with 50% water and is so soft! It also has a cooling effect on the skin when you put it on! the water absorbs into your skin and then you're left with a pretty budge-proof line! its AMAZINGLY BLACK! i've never seen a darker black! and it glides on so smooth! The problem is that its so smooth that it falls apart if you twist it up too much and you also use it up very quickly. The quality is amazing and it lasts a good while. It is not waterproof, however, so don't wear it to a wedding or funeral if you're a crier. I'm wearing the liner in all of my pictures.

The mascara is a cult favorite of many people and I can see why! it really gets ever lash! there are no clumps! and it feels literally like you'r not wearing mascara!!!! its so soft! this doesn't flake, doesn't come off onto your cheek, and it really does get every lash. The downside to this however is that it doesn't lengthen and if you like false-looking lashes you wont get it with this. this looks very natural. I'm wearing the mascara in all of my pictures.

I have yet to try the primer because i'm saving it for my trip to North Carolina when I see my honey! But heres a pic!:

One thing I really love about the drawer is that the red lining comes out and you can store your other goods in there! Long brushes and bulky packaging dont fit but all of my sephora travel brushes do!!! which is so awesome! If only my eyelash curler fit...oh well, at least it's not like other drawers that dont allow you to be so versitile.

Pretty much this is the best palette i've ever owned and for the best value! I feel like a fool for buying the Too Faced palette because there are way less shadows and none of them are even close to being this huge and such a good quality!
