rant: Clairol Shine Happy clear shine treatment

So, in theory Clairol Shine Happy sounds like a dream come true or people who love their hair color but just want a little more shine in their life! well, I was easily fooled by this product that claims to just add shine to your hair, it's completely colorless. After the alotted 10 minutes I rinsed out my hair and started blow drying it when I realized that the hair that was drying was a much lighter brown than MY hair.....to my horror I also realized that it was more red as the drying continued. It's not that shocking, it's probably only 2 shades lighter with red undertones BUT I like my hair dark. My black lowlights from a year ago are now the color o my real hair and well, i'll show you pics and you can see for yourself....

this was my hair.....

this is my hair now....

Can yall see how much more red my hair is????

okay, so this was just a rant because I didn't think that my hair would be noticeably different by using a colorless treatment on my hair. My students picked it out and my friends noticed as well so it's a lot more brown than i'm comfortable with....I just don't want to fry my hair by dying it and putting more chemicals in it. My friends like it and it doesn't look bad but its just hard to get used to.

If you don't like red undertones then I suggest not trying this.

Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal eyeliner pencil- Jet Black

helllloooOO!
So I've been wanting that Tarte Holiday liner set but I can't make myself spend 40 bucks on the darn thing!!!! I was willing to buy a present or my best friend and a blush or myself with my friends and family discount at sephora but I drew the line there! I had purchased a few rimmel eyeliners because they were buy two get one free at Ulta and they were 3 bucks.
I'm in love!!!!!!!! These are really great liners! the kohl pencils do not glide on very creamy and you have to really work with them but they have great color and great staying power. I always set my pencil liners with the same colored eyeshadow and I have no issues with these all day. Rimmel has a wide array of colors available and I would rather spend money on these than a high end liner since I go through liners wicked fast.

the sun was pretty bright, this liner is much darker in person!

I did not set with powder for these pictures!

Do you love the rimmel pencils??? let me know!

BirchBox #1: October

Hey ya'll!
So i've been busy sleeping/gearing up or taking over the classroom from hereon out! So yeah, I haven't posted! I have alot of great new things however that I would like to share with you! Here's my first Birchbox!

The theme or this box was "prepping and polishing" and it included a shine spray, facial scrub, mascara, mints, and a lip exfoliator!
the deets:

Redken Shine Flash:
"weightless finishing spray that uses camelina oil and B5 to give you silky, shimmering strands"
My opinion: this is great so long as you don't get it too close to your roots! I realize that a little bit goes a long way or else my hair gets weighed down. Makes hair shiny but not in a drastic way.

Pangea Organics Facial Scrub:
"this all-natural scrub uses cranberry seed enzymes and finely ground adzuki ben to clear away dead skin so that your products can do their job"
My opinion: I LOVE THIS! this not only smells great and feels great, but I feel more awake when I use this and a little bit goes a long way! love this stuff!

Blinc Mascara
"this tubing mascara won't smudge, smear, or run- plus it gives lashes a sassy extra glossy look".
My opinion: I've never hated a product so much in my life. I thought badgal lash was bad but boy I was wrong! I put this on and it looked like I had nothing on! no lengthening, no volumizing... it just looked bad! And then this was strange to take off, i would only wear this on my bottom lashes because of the no smudge factor...but even then maybe not. ewww.

Tea Forte Minteas!
"our new obsession, these tasty mints are infused with energizing yerba mate and rich cocoa"
my opinion: delicious! love these mints! and there are like a million in this pack!

Befine Lip Exfoliator

" a lip-healing wonder; this gentle lip exfoliator sloughs away flakes and cracks to leave lips velvety."
My Opinion: This is my favorite product in the box! This is almost like a lotion or your lips that has exfoliators in it! I can't describe it but i'm in love because it actually removes the dead skin from your lips and it doesn't sit on top of them like a balm. New obsession.

All in all I liked my birchbox! the scrub, lip exfoliator and mints were my favorites!

tarte the Starlet Limited-Edition Makeup Vanity- Brown quad

Hello My beauties!,
So some very exciting things happened since we last chatted it up! First of all I inspired my friend to start her own makeup blog!!!!! She loved my post about the Trueblood palette and took her first step into the world of high quality makeup! Check out her blooming blog here! You won't be disappointed! http://www.beautyblogish.com/
I also inspired one of my friends to start wearing makeup! I did a makeover with the Starlet but I didn't photograph her! :(
I want to apologize for being inconsistent! Some days when I just look tired in the eyes and I don't want to do any makeup an injustice!
Now, onto this review!
I love these browns! Except for Popular....i don't touch that one. For my eye look I took Prestige (nude shade that is pretty much my exact lid shade) and applied to my lid and blended out into the crease. I then took Trophy and applied to my crease area. I used timeless in the outer V and swept it up into the crease. I blended out any harsh lines with Cameo and also used that as my inner corner shade. I probably used my Sephora smokey kohl liner, this was a few days ago...

Pics:
flash whites out some pictures and not others

The obvious whited out pic....

I love this look and I've been using this alot! It has alot of complexity with the barely there matte nude, the golden brown, and the shimmering cocoa! I just really love this look and how it can be timeless, clean, and smokey at the same time!

Thank you for reading! This concludes the review of each quad! I think i'm going to do a post of my favorite looks using both this palette and the trueblood palette since alot of you collectors out there own both!

As always i do not work for any makeup company, I do not get paid for my reviews, and I bought this with my own money.

Tarte The Starlet Limited-Edition Makeup Vanity- natural quad

Hey ya'll!,
So this has already been a hectic week! But i'm determined to get through all of the 6 quads! Today's look is starring the earthy quad! So I had a little bit of a problem called I REALLY LIKE A DEFINED CREASE...and there was no crease option in this palette because most of the colors blend with my skin! No Joke, Idol is like my lid color almost exactly and the peach color is very very very neutral on me. If I were very pale it would not be an issue!

So I did something bad...well, not really that bad but I went ahead and put a TINY bit of the shimmering cinnamon in the outer v and lightly blended up to the crease. The two colors go very well together! I've been trying to do more defined liner looks since thats the thing for fall so I applied Virtuoso wet on top of a grey liner. Cameo was used in the inner corners and brow bone

Earthy: Talent (shimmering peach), Cameo (matte beige), Virtuoso (sparkling forest green)

aren't you glad I added that cinnamon!!!! Such a great look!

and another overly dramatic starlet pose! looking off into the distance

I actually really love the green because I can wear it to teach in and it's not super dramatic! if I had this all over my lids it would be another story, but as a liner it looks good!

Do you have the starlet??? What is your favorite look?

Tarte The Starlet Limited-Edition Makeup Vanity - Smokey eye quad

Hello! Happy Sunday ya'll,
so today my family and I are going to Fleming's to eat steak! So I decided a Juicy dress and a smokey eye was in order! I love this quad alot because I am a smokey eye freak! I'm really happy to have some shimmering greys now! I love the matte grey from the trueblood palette and the silver as well! These should all work well together :)

Eyes: superstar used all over the lid, celebrity in the crease. I came in with my smokey kohl liner and smudged it out into the crease a little and then swept Opening night ontop and blended out into more of the crease. To brighten up the look I put a very small amount of luminary on the inner most part of my lid (not the inner corners. On the inner corners and brow bone I'm wearing cameo.

This look can be intensified by using celebrity as the lid color and using opening night in the crease. This can also be toned down by using luminary as the lid color and using superstar in the crease.

The natural quad is up next for tomorrows look! Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Tarte The Starlet Limited-Edition Makeup Vanity- Pink quad

Hello ya'll!
Happy saturday and first day of my favorite month!
Today has been a great day and it was even better when I discovered a brand of nail polish made especially for HEB that is a branch of OPI and is formaldehyde free and hella cheap! more on that later though because this post is dedicated to the pink quad in the Starlet!

I really love this darn thing! the pinks are really beautiful and my camera just does not give them justice! I especially am loving the light matte shades in this palette, especially this barely-there baby pink! the other favorite color in the pink quad is the shimmering cinnamon shade! It's so unique. This look is warm and neutral without being a standard brown. I played up the old hollywood feel by lining my eyes with my black smokey khol liner from sephora and setting it with Opening Night from the smokey quad. The lipstick is Revlon SL lipstick in Berry Rich.

Ingenue all over the lid, diva and leading lady in the crease, and prima donna in the outer V and blended into the crease. cameo used on brow bone and inner corner.

Blush: starlet with rose highlighter on tops of cheek bones.

here's my rendition of my overdramatic hollywood face!: it's terrible, i know....

The pink is much more noticable in person. It's easily whited out because its a very very whitish pink. The cinnamon is also less brown looking, it does pull more pinkish in person. I love it, however because I've been into lighter lids to make me look more awake.

Thanks for reading! I promise i'll do some non-tarte posts soon...its just my favorite brand ever.
